Ok so cool it is 5:55 PM EST here in South Florida and it looks like we are publishing!
Ok so before we talk about the Consolidated PBY-5 Consolidated Catalina which was an amphibious patrol bomber, we are going
to report that Nelson Mandella died today released from Prison in 1990 it was thought he spent some 27 years in prison he
was 95!He was elected as the president of South Africa on April the 27th 1994 that day is a national holiday in South
Africa today!
When we look up things on the internet related to Florida's 500th anniversary
like guys like Vasco De Gamma and find out about Ponce Da Leon and Christafer Columbus and we find out that their ships many
times were known as Caravelle's! When we look up aircraft like the first jet liner after WW2 we come up with the Boeing 707
and the De Havilland Comet, (which first flew on July 27th 1949 )( and introduced in 1952 but suffered early crashed due to
metal fatigue),and a French airplane called the Sud Aviation (short and medium range)," Caravelle", which first flew on
May 27th 1955! (May 27th is the anniversary of the publication of the book," The Prince" by Macavelli). The first
jet airliner was quite a thing as it could fly very much many times above bad weather and as expensive as air travel was in
the beginning many of the country's airlines were connected to business and government organization's! The Boeing 707 which
first flew on December 20th 1957 and in which 1010 were produced was the first successful jet airliner it was used in both
domestic and international and trans continental flights. One of these aircraft flying from Stockholm to NY city during the
night of the NY-blackout was on final approach when the light's went out the aircraft having to go around and zig zag to avoid
hitting sky scrapers at low altitude was flight 9/11 Scandinavian airlines Stockholm to New York on November the 9th 1965!
The Consolidated PBY-5 Catalina first flew on 28 March 1935 (28 March is the anniversary of the nuclear accident at Three
mile Island in 1979) and here we think about the years which lead to the onset of WW2 ( and remember the saying"Beware
of the IDS of March")!
Over 3000 PBY-5's built 24 by the Soviet Union!
