Ok we did not got to the top of the page column but we are publishing the aircraft codex for today
is the July 5th 2014 template and we have the PBY-5 Catalina patrol bomber which could land on water and land and was
built by Consolidated and first flew in 28 March 1935 ( Beware of the IDS of March)!
at a 1936 cost of $90,000
dollars over 3,305 were built 24 were built in the Soviet Union. Introduced in October 1936 the last one was retired from
the U.S. inventory in January 1957! For the 5th we also have the P5M Martin Marlin Patrol bomber in which first flew on 30
May 1948 and was a twin engine piston powered flying boat that entered service in 1952 and stayed in service until 1967!
For the 6th of July 2014 we have the F6F Grumman Hellcat which was the predominant fighter plane of WW2 which shot down more
enemy aircraft then any other single type its first flight was 26 June 1942 and in two years over 12,200 were built with a
total 12,275 at $35,000 each as of 1945 it was last retired by the Uruguayan Navy in 1960!
And then also for the 6th of July we have the T-6 Texan North American advanced trainer from WW2 which (now look at this),
first flew on 1 April April Fools Day 1935 and one of the Variants developed from it was called the A-27! There were
15,495 built and many of then were used as a attack aircraft but we don't have a price per unit!
Another footnote to July 6th 2014 and the North American T-6 Texan is a new turbo-prop trainer called the Beechcraft T-6 Texan
II and interestingly enough it was first flown in 2000 and introduced in 2001 which was the year of (9/11) there have been
some 636 built so far and the aircraft has violated the Nunn McCurdy breach (they call it) which means the design developed
from a Pilatus (Swiss) PC-9 aircraft but is a 1000 pounds heavier and has cost overruns of 30%-50% more then what it
was developed at first each costing between 3.9 million dollars and 6.0 million dollars each!
The next airplane we have is the F7F Tiger cat which was used in the last day's of WW2 and the Korean war it was a twin engine
carrier fighter plane it first flew on November 2nd 1943 364 were built between 1943-1946 and we don't have a price it was
retired in 1954!
