Insert)----- May 3rd 2014 Saturday Year of the Horse! Ok so cool we are publishing but have been a little behind in our
airplane template codex numbers this week end from last week end has been very busy in our e-mails we mentioned that there
is and has been lots of information to get on top of!
On
of the thing's we noticed is there was a tornado or two that landed smack in the middle of a town called May Flower Arkansas
and several people are dead ,"April showers bring May flowers", and quite a bit of damage! Also reported here in Florida
is in the upper part of the pan handle there has been over 20 inches of rain in just a day or two flooding roadways and streets!
And an explosion at a prison in the Pensacola area killed and injured people and authorities are said to be having their hands
full! Also there are something like 250 secondary girls kidnapped in Nigeria by some sort of group that they only just have
heard rumors about Islamic terrorist have been suspected as the girls could be used as or for Marriage sex slaves or
other things like ransom many things have been rumored trucks came to the school in the time of classes in an area where there
had been trouble and uniformed men told the students of an impending attack and to board the trucks and they will be taken
to saftey about 50 girls were said to become suspicious and escaped! Also this week as new e-mails surfaced about the
killing of a U.S. Ambassador in Lybia they are askng the house to form a select committee to investigate the situation as
Merkel the Head of Germany visited the White House yesterday there was some military action in the Ukraine as a attack helicopter
or two were or was shot down by pro Russian forces!
April 30th 2014 which
was a Wednesday the airplane template codex is the LB-30 which was a designation for an early model B-24 Consolidated Liberator Bomber
LB- meaning Land Bomber! Later modified versions were called B-24's, they built about 18,492 of them at a cost of $297,627
dollar each about $4.77 million each in todays money! it first flew on December 29th 1939 and it utilized a Davis wing
concept of design! Its most famous mission were the oil fields of Ploiesti Romania in a daring long distance low level attack
on the 1st of August 1943 and suffered heavy losses with minimum damage to the refineries that were bombed!
May 1st is the celebration of May day a labor holiday in many countries and many exchanges in Europe were closed Margret Thatcher
is said to not wanted to have the UK to celebrate the day so their exchange was open this week! We have several aircraft for
this day in our codex the North American Rockwell B-1 bomber which in a 4 jet engine swing wing nuclear and conventional bomber
designed for low level mission known as the Lancer Lancer was John F. Kennedy's secret service name its good to take note
her cause it was during the Kennedy administration that several times we came close to nuclear war! with Cuba and Vietnam!
Cost of the B-1 was in 1998 283.1 million dollars each and there are about a 100 of them!
Also on May 1st 2014 we have the ( Grumman) OV-1 Mohawk army recon and attack aircraft that was used in Vietnam it first
flew on 14 April 1959 ( On 14 April 1935 was the day of a gigantic sand and dust storm that hit the Oklahoma and Kansas area
of the United states and became known as the Dust Bowl burying thousands of farmers and their equipment and displacing hundreds
of thousands of people in the midst of the depression),and introduced in October 1959 a fast fixed wing aircraft fitted with
ejection seats it was usually used primairily by the U.S. Army and operated in a recon role! 380 were built!
The next aircraft is the L-19 /O1 bird-dog built by Cessna it first flew on 14 December 1949 and retired in 1974 it was designed
and built out of metal and used to replace fabric aircraft in the observation role and used in Korea and Vietnam 3431 were
built! the aircraft developed from a Cessna 170 that carried 4 passengers the L-19/01-Birdog was designed to only carry 2
people and sometimes could carry a stretcher!
Insert May 4th 2014)---- Ok we are
still on May the second aircraft template and we have the Cessna Sky-master 02 aircraft which was used to replace the 01 bird
dog aircraft also built by Cessna the sky-master had two engines different from the birddog one in front of the aircraft and
one in the back of the fuselage the idea was known as push - pull propulsion lay out! The 02 was also known as Oscar-duce
and The Duck and was used in forward air control rolls in Vietnam
First
flight of the 02 sky-master was January 1967 and 532 were built and retired in 2010!
The next airplane for the 2nd of May 2014 is the Northrop Grumman B-2 strategic stealth bomber that is also a conventional
and nuclear bomber only about 20 or so exsist one crashed they were built at a cost of $737 million each in 1997
and the real price including spare part's may be about 2 billion an aircraft several people have been caught at spying and
selling information about the stealth technology of the aircraft to other countries and its first flight was 17 July 1989 and
introduced in April 1997! Jimmy Carter administration started the stealth aircraft project and in the projected ordering of
the aircraft which was going to be 132 of them they canceled the B-1 bomber but delays in the B-2 production they had
to reestablish the North American Rockwell B-1 Lancer nuclear bomber! In the campaign between Carter and Reagan
Carter canceled the B-1 in favor of the B-2 but the Reagan campaign charged that the Carter administration was weak on
Defence! The flying wing design was worked on by Jack Northrop but before the invention of composite materials aluminum
was used and due to its design the aluminum version of the flying wing with full bomb load and fuel would have airframe failures
in sharp turns as they were working on the design in the 40's and 50's the Nazis' had a Horton flying wing during WW2 one
fitted with early jet engines crashed during a test flight in the last years of the war WW2!
The B-2 Spirit as it is called is said to of been designed and built inside out to channel heat generated from the operation
of the aircraft and engines and keep a low radar signature as it fly's through the air! Its flight control's are also completely
computerized and has no vertical fins! It can carry both nuclear and conventional bunker busting bombs!
A WW2 bomber with the designation PV-1 and PV-2 the PV-1 Ventura first flew on 31 July 1940 and modified into the PV-2
Harpoon the aircraft were also called the B-34 Lexington and also designated the B-37! Notable bombing raids before most were
pulled off daylight bombing raids and put into patrol operation was a raid on the Netherlands of the Phillips vaccum tube
factory! On one raid over the Netherlands all of the aircraft were shot down by flak and German fighters! Tinker could not
find a total number built and there were many that were ordered through the Lend Lease Act they were even much modified in
the 50's and 60's as executive transports with large windows and luxury interiors! At least 500 were ordered and the PV-2
was first used against Japanese that invaded the far islands of Alaska in 1943! The PV-1 and PV-2 were built as replacements
for the Lockheed Hudson aircraft which were also a early Lend Lease aircraft order! They were built in Seattle at the Renton
Washington Plant for a while and actually they were first manufactured by the Lockheed Vega company Vega a name for another
aircraft type was a division of Lockheed! They did not show how much they cost either as we do not have a number!
The next aircraft is the Lockheed PV-2 Neptune patrol bomber actually the PV-2-7 Neptune this aircraft first flew in 1945
and entered service in 1947 it had both piston engines and small jet engines that ran on high octane aviation fuel and was
used as a intrum nuclear bomber which was to ditch at sea or land at an airfield after taking off from an aircraft carrier!
It was the first aircraft in the American inventory that we noticed was named after a Planet besides King of the ocean!
The next aircraft is the Lockheed P-3 Orion anti-submarine patrol bomber it has four turbo-prop jet engines and was used in
the 1970's 80's and 90's and is now being replaced or supplemented by the Boeing P-8 Poseidon which is a 737-800
modified jet liner that costs a terrific amount of money about 201 million dollars to 270 million each, both these aircraft
are being used to search for that missing Malaysian jet liner! There are about 9 to 15 P-8 Poseidon (Boeing)!
For May the 4th 2014 we have the Grumman F4F Wildcat ww2 navy fighter plane front line early in the war years The F4U Corsair
( Chance-Vaught) this aircraft had the longest production of any piston engine propeller fighter plane being in production
right up to 1953!
And the JN-4 Jenny of WW1 and the barnstormer era in the 20's and 30's
Charles Lindbergs first airplane was a war surplus JN-4 Jenny built by the Glenn Curtiss aero-plane and Motor Company of Buffalo,
New York 1916! and also of course the Tupolev Tu-4 which was a reversed engineered B-29 built in secret and first flown
in 1947 even though it did not drop an atomic bomb in war time it was the first Soviet bomber to drop an atomic bomb in test's
over 800 were built and they were built using Metric measure the B-29 used English imperial units of measure this made the
TU-4 slightly heavier then the B-29 by 750 lbs! The NATO code name was the"Bull"!
This early Monday morning late Sunday Night the 4th and the 5th on the internet they are showing the Soviet TU-160 supersonic
bombers(NATO code name,"Black Jack"), are flying over Crimea this on the internet this morning we are waiting for the
International business news which comes on at 4:00 AM EST here in south Florida! There were about 36 TU-160's but as they
were developed in 1987 just before the fall of the Soviet Union there are only a few with up to date engines and avionic's
according to the internet information! 16 are said to be in use and 10 are being modernized they are variable-geometry
or swing wing supersonic bombers and can be air tankered or in flight refueled but have a extended range of about 9000
miles at 550 mph!
The only other aircraft we can think of with a 4 in it for
the 4th of May 2014 is the N4Y which was a two person fabric bi-plane trainer developed in 1931 and only 41 were built by
Consolidated Fleet aircraft company! otherwise the N4Y was known as the PT-11! Built for the Coast Guard and the new Army
Air Corps few were used domestically some were sent to Mexico! 1931 was the year after Glenn H Curtiss died from complications
of an appendix attack he had in court in 1930 in New York after living in florida after cashing out of his Curtiss Aero-plane
and Motor company in 1920 for 32 million dollars and moving to Florida and 1930 was the year that the British airship the
R-101 crashed in a field in France on its maiden flight 1931 was the year that the Commision was formed the La Costra Nostra
as it was known Meaning "This thing of ours"! It is thought in some circles that the Aluminum salvage from the R-101 crash
was used in Germany for airships and or aircraft at the time aluminum in aircraft was quite new and was first called dura-aluminum,
dura-aluminum was fostered by the Junkers aircraft company Hugo Junkers was the first to build an all metal aircraft!
