Ok so cool we are publishing! As you can see however when we keyed our web page to publish
it did not go to the top of the page so you have to pay attention as the days of the month go by and we have quite a bit of
aircraft numbers and names and information on aviation and space stuff!
Well Friday
(May 30th 2014), was the anniversary of the launching of the Mars spaceship Mariner 9 which was the first spaceship to
orbit Mars and took hundreds of photos of volcanos and other land and surface features for the first time in 1971! Mars named
after the god of War on our aircraft template for Saturday May 31st 2014 we have used a new aircraft that is a Soviet Russian
interceptor the MIG 31 ( NATO code Name Foxhound) and for Sunday the Rockwell international (Boeing) B-1 Lancer strategic
nuclear bomber!
The MIG 31 ( designed and built by the (Mikoyan design bureau) was designed
to replace the high altitude recon interceptor the MIG 25 (NATO code Name FOXBAT) which used nickel steel alloy in its
airframe for welding!
The MIG 31 first flew on 16 September 1975 and was introduced
on May 6th 1981 about 400-500 were built but only about 300 are in service today! One of the few aircraft that can intercept
a SR-71 Black bird (Lockheed)!
The Rockwell International (Boeing) B-1 Lancer is
a variable sweep wing strategic nuclear bomber with 4 jet engines connected at the wing roots first flew in 23 December 1974
it was produced in 1973-1974 and 1983-1988 at a cost of $283.1 million dollars in 1998! In the on again off again theory of
strategic balance either flex-able response or massive retaliation depending on the tactical relationships this is the airplane
codex template for Sunday June 1st 2014! Also there is Cessna 0-1 Bird Dog which was used in Korea and Vietnam it was the
all-metal aircraft that replaced the wood and fabric observation aircraft of WW2! Then we have the 0V1-Mohawk (Grumman) which
was a fast recon aircraft of the U.S. Army that was used in Vietnam it first flew in 14 April 1959 and was retired in September
1996!
Monday June 2nd 2014 is the B-2 (Northrop) stealth strategic bomber!
Jack Northrop experimented with flying Wing aircraft so did the NAZI's but using aluminum even though the aircraft design
could carry bombs and lots of fuel the use of aluminum would cause airframe failure in tight turns with a full load on! Lack
of funds to remedy the design put off flying wings until composites and stealth technology came to the forefront of military
aircraft design in the 1970's and 80's! And also the 2nd of June is the (Lockheed) PV-2-7 Neptune Patrol bomber
which first flew in 1945 and entered service in 1947 and was a in-tarum nuclear advantage weapon and anti-submarine and
shipping aircraft with big piston radial engines and small type jets that ran off the same type of fuel! also it was the first
aircraft with the name of a Planet that Tinker knows of except for the JRM Mars flying boat built by Martin! Only 7 aircraft
of this type were built and they were the largest aircraft flying boats ever built by the Allies! Martin started work
on a large ocean patrol flying boat and it first flew after a engine fire on 23 June 1942 as the XPB-2m1! Later it was designated
the JRM Mars flying boat and was used as a long range transport and later converted into water tankers to flight forest fires
one still is operating!
